Mission
The mission of the Firelight Foundation is to support and advocate for the needs and rights of children who are orphaned or affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa. Firelight strives to increase the resources available to grassroots organizations that are strengthening the capacity of families and communities to care for children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS.

Vision
Firelight envisions a world in which children’s rights are recognized, protected, and upheld. Every child, regardless of race, creed, or country, is provided with a safe environment, adequate food, shelter, and health services, a sound education, nurturing care, and a supportive family. Governments, non-governmental organizations, communities, and individuals work together to guarantee children’s sustained quality of life. Children are recognized for their strengths and their voices are valued and heard.

Firelight envisions a just, compassionate, and equitable world in which there is widespread awareness of, as well as the will and ability to address, the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Africa is not written off as a “lost cause” or a hopeless situation. Governments, international organizations, and donors value African lives and respond accordingly. There is a universal belief in the power of grassroots organizations and a corresponding investment in their work. A strong and growing African civil society is recognized, valued, and supported.
