The Firelight Name and Logo
The Firelight Foundation's logo was sketched by co-founder Kerry
Olson. An art lover and artist, she was inspired by Marc Chagall's
simple drawings, which evoke powerful images in just a few line-strokes.
Kerry first drew the logoa child's face, bathed in the light
of a candleon a scrap of notebook paper. That sketch remains
our logo today. We believe that children hold the hope for the future,
and our logo's candle represents that hope.
The name Firelight was chosen because it evokes themes that
are central to our mission. As a fire provides light, it in turn
allows for clear vision. Fire also transforms natural materials
into energyvision transformed into action.
Firelight symbolizes the passion behind our work. The Foundation's
programs help youth, support families, and strengthen communities.
With each of these actions, we are empowering children and sustaining
hope for the future.
