Zainab is a gender equality and women’s empowerment specialist with nearly a decade of experience developing and managing programs and initiatives supporting ending child marriage, positive masculinity, child rights, women’s economic empowerment, political inclusion and gender-based violence. She is experienced in program management, adaptivelearning, knowledge sharing and strategic communication. As a Program Officer, she manages a consortium-led initiative in Malawi focused on ending child marriage.

She joins Firelight from GIZ Malawi, where she worked as a technical advisor for communications, M&E and value chains, and supported the inclusion of women in the aquaculture value chain in Malawi. Previously, she held managerial and technical leadership roles with the Palladium Group and the NGO-Gender Coordination Network secretariat in Malawi.

She holds degrees from the University of Iceland and Mzuzu University in Malawi.
